Prominent commercial unit refurbished ahead of lease to UHI Inverness to develop a new Sustainable Construction Centre on the site supported by funding from the SSEN Regional Community Benefit Fund.

In-keeping with the sustainability ethos of the site, which tenant UHI Inverness has established as a hub for collaboration between industry stakeholders, contractors and developers and a dedicated base for research and development of sustainable technologies,  ARK Estates invested heavily in retrofitting new state-of-the-art low carbon energy, heating and lighting solutions.

The 12,000sq ft building was retrofitted with solar panels, heat pump technology & LED lighting systems.

Against a backdrop of numerous redundancies related to the closure of the business previously operating at the site, ARK Estates breathed new life into the location by facilitating the set up of a UHI Inverness’ Sustainable Construction Centre. The centre supports the expansion of its construction-related curriculum to help train the next generation of skilled workers to meet growing demand for skills in the construction and renewable energy sectors.
